The Town of Bonnyville is accepting applications for enumerators for the 2024 Municipal Census. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age, enjoy working with the public, and be accurate in the collection of confidential information.
Enumerators
  • Job description: Visiting households which did not complete the census online. Enumerators will be equipped with a tablet for quick input of census information at each residence.
  • Requirement: Successful applicants will be required to attend a Town administered two-hour training session. The enumeration may be conducted during daytime hours, evenings, and weekends between May 20, 2024 and June 30, 2024. Applicants must be available during this time period and have a reliable vehicle.
  • Compensation: Census Enumerators can anticipate earning an estimated $600 to $1,000 depending on the number of homes in an assigned area and the number of residents enumerated. In addition, enumerators will be paid for attending the 2-hour mandatory census training session. Compensation will be provided at the completion of the enumeration period after June 30, 2024.

Hiring - Administrative Assistant

Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) northeast regional office provides services to other NCSA offices within the area. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the area managers and other offices under that region. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of the assessment roll in accordance with legislation, regulations, bylaws, and accepted mass appraisal processes that pertain to establishing and defending Alberta property assessments.

Position Duties:
  • Greet clients – notify staff member, offer coffee, be helpful.
  • Answering dual-line phones, directing inquiries, and taking messages.
  • General filing and organization of office files including digitizing hard copy files.
  • Formatting and assembly of Tender and Contract Documents which includes printing, sorting, and binding of books, making PDF copies of documents, etc.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of SE Design’s safety program and COR certification, which includes recording monthly safety statistics, and updating vehicle maintenance records.
  • Key coordinator of monthly safety meetings, including set-up, recording meeting minutes and scheduling.
  • Maintaining and ordering office and cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Formatting of reports, proposals and/or other documents as required.
  • Other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
  • High School and/or Post-Secondary Education.
  • Excellent communication skills, including teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe PDF.
  • Strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities in a timely manner.

The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for the position of Public Safety Peace Officer. The successful candidate will report to the Public Safety Peace Officer Supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Conduct highly visible patrols within the M.D. of Bonnyville to prevent and detect Municipal Bylaw and select Provincial Statute violations. Includes traffic patrol, commercial vehicle enforcement and rural crime prevention duties.
  • Conduct investigations, collect and store evidence, obtain statements, and compile and present reports.
  • Draft and complete various types of charging documents including bylaw tickets and Provincial Court documentation.
  • Act on various situations such as traffic stops, complaint response, and interacting with the public to effectively articulate reasons for action taken.
  • Accomplish checks of commercial vehicles, including gravel and oil haulers to ensure safe operation and compliance with commercial vehicle safety and overweight legislation.
  • Conduct crime prevention patrols throughout the municipality to deter and detect crime. This may involve some extended working hours.
  • Participate in the Vacant Home Check Program and assist the Crime Prevention Officer as needed.
  • Perform various related tasks during a municipal emergency or disaster situation which may involve working extended or abnormal hours.
  • Investigate complaint history and conduct routine clerical assignments.
  • Respond to complaints from the public regarding Municipal Bylaws and Provincial Statutes.
  • Ensure patrol bodycam and in-car video are appropriately tagged and downloaded.
  • Operate in-car computer tablet to enter shift log entries, write reports, and conduct searches.
  • Liaison with other local enforcement agencies.
  • Hosting or attending public or industry meetings.
  • Attending community functions and events as a representative of the department.
  • Conduct traffic control for emergency situations, parades, funeral processions, and other activities as required.
  • Maintain a high level of dress and deportment that will demonstrate a positive representation of the Public Safety department.

Qualifications for Experienced Applicant:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years as a Police Officer, Provincial Peace Officer, or Level 1 Community Peace Officer with traffic enforcement authority or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Operator’s License (Subject to a driver license abstract check).
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • Experience conducting and enforcing traffic and commercial truck laws including moving violations and truck axle overweight.
  • Qualified in operating speed monitoring equipment and portable axle scales.
  • Experience working with Alberta Provincial Statutes is considered an asset.
  • ASP baton, OC spray training within last 3 years.
  • Criminal record check/Enhanced Reliability screening conducted by the police of jurisdiction (proof required at time of interview).
  • Qualification in Crime Prevention though Environmental Design (CPTED) would be considered an asset.
  • Computer proficiency with MOVES, Microsoft Office, and MRF would be an asset.
  • Ability to deal effectively with complaint investigation, conflict resolution, and perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Strong public relations, time management, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) trained.

The Position
The Disability Services Worker (DSW), provides one-to-one supports to persons-served, with some behavioral and or mental health concerns who live at one of WJS' community support programs in Cold Lake. They will develop a relationship with the person-served, support/encourage them at home and within the community, act as a liaison with the community members, employers, family members, and/or their guardian.

This position reports to the Team Leader.
In Your Role You Will
  • Assist with daily living skills planning, training & activities at the program home and during community errands/activities
  • Drive individuals (in your own vehicle) to recreational & leisure activities, volunteer/job opportunities and encourage community-based opportunities for relationship building, pursuing desires/interests, community inclusion, etc.
  • Work independently with the persons-served towards achieving the goals set out in their Individual Support Plan (ISP); encourage them during setbacks and celebrate their successes.
  • Support behavioural, emotional and social needs/development (within the program & during community activities)
  • Model healthy relationships and setting boundaries
  • Use de-escalation techniques to deal with any behaviours of concern
